8 Pressure Points Of The Human Body
Every individual has been blessed by their individual pressure points which can be used for self-cure and also used during self-defense. There are some traditional treatments which use these pressure points to heal certain diseases of the body.
Similarly in the martial arts, these pressure points are used to get an edge over the opponent for survival purposes. Most advance martial art fighters do during a fight is target these pressure points during an encounter to end the fight quickly.
If you want to emerge as a winner during a fight, you must have a complete knowledge about these pressure points, so that you can use them to immobilize the opponent. When you are fighting for self-defense, you must be witty enough to overpower your opponent and immediately escape from the scene. The next logical step is to seek assistance from the local police or from people around in the vicinity.
When you have the knowledge about human pressure points, you can incapacitate your opponent even if he has better fighting skill. You can achieve this by focusing your strikes on his pressure points, thus using the right knowledge to your advantage. But be warned, attacking these points can sometime be very brutal and can even cause fatality.
What are the critical pressure points in the human body? The following are 8 key areas:
1) Top of the head.
The skull or the top of the head is a very delicate area. Hitting here can lead to trauma and injury in the cranial cavity. It can result in immediate hemorrhage and also unconsciousness.
2) The temple.
This part too is in the skull which comprises of the area which contains artery and large nerves. Attacking this part can lead to concussion.
3) The eyes.
Eyes are the most important part of the human body, a slight poke can lead to blurred vision and uncontrollable watering. In case the poke is too strong, it can lead to partial or permanent blindness.
4) The nose.
The nose has very thin bones, thus a hard blow can smash the nose of your opponent and can lead to profuse bleeding and also fracture of the nasal bones. The pain caused is quite unbearable and can lead to excessive watering from the eyes.
5) The chin.
A strong blow on the jaw can cause dislocation of the jaws, fracture and also paralysis. Since the facial nerve is located in this area, a hard strike here can cause facial paralysis. In boxing, the chin is commonly known as the "knockout button".
6) The throat.
The throat is one of the most delicate parts of our body. With a hard blow on the throat, it has the potential of inflicting serious damage to your opponent as it will cause irreparable damage to the wind pipe and the person cannot breathe.
7) The back of the ear and the base of the skull.
Again a moderate to hard blow here can cause unconsciousness, concussion, haemorrhage and also death.
8) Side of the neck.
A sharp and accurate blow on the side of the neck can cause damage to the vagus nerve, carotid and jugular vein.
The 8 points above are some of the critical pressure location in the human body which you can use to your advantage during a fight. Remember, your goal should be to incapacitate the opponent and not to kill the person in the name of self-defense.
