The Goal Of Learning Self Defense For Real Life Situation

Especially in present day scenario when the world has become quite dangerous, it is always good to learn some form of martial art for self-defense purposes. This holds equally good for women to be self-dependent when defending against any attacker.

Women are being attacked at an alarming rate across the world. There seems to be no slowing trend in such crimes against women. Learning self-defense becomes even more important these days. If you are a woman and you want to stay safe, the best thing is to join some Karate classes and learn some basic moves for self-preservation.

There are many Karate classes which train women in martial art, of course with a purpose of protecting them again an attacker. However, many people do not know that most of these moves which are taught to women will get you in more trouble than you might anticipate.

The bad part about such traditional self-defense course is the false sense of security. These classes teach only some flashy moves and may even give you a black belt for your effort, but such flashy moves will have no meaning once you face a real “fight or flight” situation.

I have been teaching and practicing martial art for over two decades. My experiences with women who have undergone self-defense courses or have a black belt were not prepared to deal with a real attack.

The biggest problem is that both you and your opponent fight in a mutually agreed strategy which might be good in the classroom but is totally different when it comes to street fight.

Nonetheless, women have to learn some form of effective self-defense techniques which are designed to stop an attacker. You must remember that male offenders are stronger, bigger in size and are mentally prepared for do harm on you.

You may spend years in learning martial art or spend thousands of dollars on training, but such trainings are of no use when it comes to real life situation. What is the use of such skill if it cannot save you from a midnight predator?

Women should learn self-defense with the goal of getting themselves out of an ugly situation. You are not to defeat or take out the attacker per se. You need to know techniques that can buy you precious seconds which will create an opening where you can get the hell away from there.

Remember, for a martial art to work in real life, the self-defense system should not be flashy or fancy. It should be designed in such a way that will enable you to save yourself from the attacker both at home or on the streets.

The classes should teach you more defensive techniques rather than offensive strikes because when you are in a highly stressed situation, you complex motor movement will not work.

Forget about getting the black belt or winning in a competition. What is the fun of collecting many medals but when it comes to real life and dead situation, you are unable to protect yourself?

Remember, the goal of learning martial art for real life situation is to create an opening where you can get away. Get away from the attacker as fast as possible and get help. Call the cops or shout for help! There is no point trying to fight off the attacker.
