Understanding The Human Body Pressure Points

There was a time when Kung Fu fighters were able to incapacitate or kill the opponent with just one blow or even sometimes with simply touching the opponent. Various terms like Iron Fist and Dim Mak points strike are quite popular and familiar.

There are many things which people are still unaware about Chi or knocking someone with just a touch. In this article, I intend to share some information on pressure points and the various terms used in the art so that you can improve your skills and make your defense more meaning full.

Let us understand the term Chi; Chi is a Chinese term which means the amount of energy is used by your body to do any function. In the Asian sub-continent word Chi or Ki has a different meaning which is something sending electrical impulses to control the central nervous system.

People may doubt about the reality of such energy, yes it does exist and such energy is instrumental to dictate our body to react to any stimuli. It is quite possible to learn how to touch, rub or strike certain parts of the body to match the reactions of another individual.

Manipulation of such an energy force is so useful that it can cure many diseases and can also be used as a destruction of the opponent. The human brain has been designed in such a manner that millions of minute electrical impulses are send to the receptors all over the body.

The common example is various tasks you do every day, like you are sitting and you want to stand, your brain will send electrical impulses to nerve receptors of your legs and you stand up. The impulse carries a message to your leg receptors to initiate the action of standing. The impulse follows a set path which is known as meridians.

All this process is so quick that you are not conscious about the entire process. Similarly the inner energy which is nothing but electrical impulses may affect the external stimuli; up and down the meridians in the body are the locations where these nerve endings come very close to the surface of your skin.

Some of these nerve endings lay over the bone and some over the muscles. These locations which are very close to the skin manipulate the impulses and the energy starts flowing. These points are unique to their self and must be stimulated in various ways to get the desired results.

Some pressure points are the rub points, some are strike points and others are touch points. Knowing this information is how a fighter can decide and use the pressure points to derive the best possible results. Results may vary from person to person; some may lose breath suddenly, feel dizziness, loss of motor control and may even become unconscious.

In extreme conditions some of the organs may not function properly or may cause the person to die. But these cases are very rare but it needs lot of knowledge and perfection as how to manipulate the series of pressure points correctly.

Mastering the human pressure points requires many hours of study and practice before such pressure points are manipulated. Hence lot of precautions should be taken by the learners to master the art.
