Interested to learn the stuffs on this website? Then just attend one of our skill path seminars. Each seminar is unique and caters to specific needs or skills proficiency. For example, our Karate bunkai skill path seminar will enable you to learn and apply classical Karate close quarter fighting skills in today's modern world, while helping you to transition from having sport-based Karate skills to real fighting skills.
I considered myself really fortunate to have found Karate masters who teach in the way it was originally meant to be taught, then added in modern aids, methods and concepts to increase a student's understanding and skills, discarding those areas which are no longer relevant in modern day context, and
refining the others for modern use, covering areas like having a survivor mindset, awareness in an urban jungle, legal consideration of the techniques (you cannot simply kill or seriously injure someone for minor misdemeanor nowadays), complementing modern weapons usage with skills like weapon retention and removal (there were no 12-gauge, automatic 9mm or .45 ACP then) and many more...
ATTEND OUR SEMINAR, LEARN FUNCTIONAL MARTIAL ARTS, AND PICK UP SOME VALUABLE SKILLS.
With this website, I hope to spread and share our knowledge and experience with anyone who is interested to find out more about Karate and self defense. You are most welcome to attend one of our skill path seminar and train with us. Let us know your needs in detail and we'll plan a specific skill path seminar to address those needs. We cater for all range of people from the serious Karateka to other martial artists who wanted to cross-train to beginners, covering courses such as Karate Shotokan Kata Interpretation, Karate Bunkai, Pressure Points Strikes or Kyusho Jutsu, Civilian Self Defense (CSD) program and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I can also arrange short courses for corporate bodies that wanted to mix work excursions or meetings with learning something valuable such as self-defense skills.

For their great insight and research into the functional art of pressure points strikes, interpreting Karate Shotokan kata accurately, understanding the real Karate bunkai so that it can be used effectively, and refining or incorporating self defense tactics and methods for today's modern world, as highlighted in
so many of their skill path seminars. I particularly enjoyed the skill path seminar in Bangkok where we were shown advance integration of strikes, joint-locks, and restrains within the context of our modern society who like to sue everyone and anyone. All of us need to have have skills that enable us to
deal with violence effectively yet be safe from any legal liability thereafter.
For cutting through the thick volume of BS out there and renewing the faith of many Karateka to rediscover this marvelous art for what it is really meant for, ie. effective and deadly close quarter fighting. This is especially important for Karate women who have been training in sport-based Karate and think they can really defend themselves out there. Little knowledge is dangerous, wrong knowledge can kill. In one of our skill path seminar, many Karate women were unable to use sport-based Karate techniques against common street attacks.
Among those people who deeply influenced my thinking and training are:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts):
The Gracie Brothers (Gracie Jiu Jitsu), Adam Kayoom, (Bruno Panno / Royler Gracie BJJ and Jitti Gym Muay Thai), Sam Wee (Will Machado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), Rodney "Chico" King (Crazy Monkey Defense Program), Matt Thornton (Straight Blast Gym) and Mark Hatmaker (Extreme Self Protection).
Combative Experts:
Tony Blauer (SPEAR), W.Hock Hochheim (Scientific Fighting Congress), Carl Cestari (Unarmed Combat), John Kary (American Combatives), Tim Larkin (Target Focus Training), Bill Wolfe (Defendo), Geoff Thompson, Darren Laur and John Perkins (Ki Chuan Do).
Historical Figures:
W.E Fairbairn, E.A. Sykes and Rex Applegate.
For being people who are not afraid to evolve with times and discard rigid traditions, ego and rank-obsession in favor of what really works. They have done society a big favor by showing them the difference between fantasy and reality, and the correct mindset to be a survivor. I always look forward to attending any of their seminars.
My humble thanks to the following Karate masters for their valuable pointers and guidance:
Nobert Foerster, 5th Dan - Zentral Dojo, Germany
Stanic Milos, 4th Dan - Tsunami Dojo in Belgrade, Serbia
Alex Thomson, 3rd Dan - Karate Union of Great Britain, former Scotland team member & my good buddy
My thanks and salute to Adam Kayoom, who epitomize everything a professional fighter should be. His passion and zeal for training is a great inspiration to me, and his technical approach to fighting taught me a great deal on how to make my skills functional.
My Karate training under Kissaki-Kai has made me aware that we should not be too concern with the perfect forms or presentations, but rather with what really works for us individually. What's the point of all that crisp and snapping Karate Shotokan kata performance when you do not understand the real meaning of the Karate bunkai behind it? Unless your ultimate objective for learning Karate is to win medals in competitions. But statistics have shown most people join Karate classes to learn how to protect themselves from violence. The main focus of Kissaki Defensive Tactics Academy
is to teach functional martial arts and training with "aliveness", which result in skills that really work when you need them, whether in the ring or street.
